  • All-Purpose Flour, Cornstarch, and Baking Powder – Mix the flour, cornstarch, and baking powder together and cover the chicken with it. This will help us get the chicken crispy. 
  • Garlic Powder, Chili Powder, Salt, Dry Mustard Powder, and Black Pepper – These are the spices that go into the flour. 

For The Batter

  • Buttermilk – Buttermilk will help tender the already tender chicken. 
  • Egg – Egg will also help richen the taste of the chicken.

1. Get All The Prep Done

Take the chicken strips and season them with salt. Chill the chicken in the refrigerator for half an hour. This will help to dry out the chicken strips. 

Now, make the seasoned flour. In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, and baking powder. Then, add garlic powder, chili powder, salt, dry mustard powder, and black pepper into the bowl and mix.

Get ready to make the spicy batter. In another large bowl, pour buttermilk. Then, whisk in the hot sauce along with egg, pickle juice, and baking powder. 

Lastly, add brown sugar, cayenne powder, chili powder, dry mustard powder, garlic powder, and salt into a heat-safe bowl. Mix them and then pour some hot frying oil into the bowl. Whisk them together and keep the bowl aside.

2. Hot Oil For Hot Chicken

Now, heat oil in a large frying pan to a temperature of 365℉. This will make it crispy. Take the chicken and dip it in the seasoned flour. Take it out and dip in the spicy batter. Take the chicken out and shake to remove the extra batter. Dredge it in the seasoned flour once again.
