Gordon Ramsay’s chimichurri recipe is simple but adds a blast of flavor to your steak. This versatile Argentinian sauce can be used when cooking your steak or chicken. You can also serve it in a bowl along with your grilled meats. It adds a beautiful green element to your meal.

The chimichurri is an Argentinian sauce mainly made with parsley, oregano, garlic, and red vinegar; not to be confused with chimichanga, which is a Spanish fried burrito. Gordon Ramsay serves the chimichurri with fried steak and white bean chorizo. He amps the game by making a delish sauce but not with all the above-mentioned ingredients. His version instead has garlic, sugar, cilantro, parsley, salt, mint, dill, lemon juice, zest, and olive oil.

Gordon showcased this recipe on his famous, if not controversial, show; Hell’s Kitchen. You can also learn the skirt steak recipe and the white bean chorizo recipe from that episode. Also, Gordon Ramsay uses mortar and pestle to make the sauce but you can use a blender. My purpose here is to just tell you about the chimichurri recipe and that I will. But first, check out some other recipes from the Chef’s delight.

What Ingredients Will You Need For Gordon Ramsay’s Chimichurri?

  • Garlic- Garlic gives the sauce a very strong smell and flavor. The garlicky essence goes great with steak and is one of the main ingredients of the sauce.
  • Fresh Cilantro- Cilantro gives the sauce a grass-like flavor and a vibrant green color.
  • Fresh Dill- Dill is added to bring a certain amount of freshness to the sauce.
  • Fresh Mint- Fresh mint gives a sharp breeze of coolness to the sauce.
  • Fresh Parsley- Parsley has a very subtle taste of its own and its flavor doesn’t stand out in the array of flavors in the sauce. It adds to the beautiful green color though.
  • Coriander- Coriander spices things a little bit and is used to accentuate the cilantro flavor.
  • Lemon Juice and Zest- Lemon juice and zest are a great way to add a tangy flavor to the sauce. It is a great substitute for the usually used red vinegar.
  • Olive Oil- Olive oil is used to emulsify the sauce as well as bring all the ingredients together.
  • Coarse Salt- A little bit of salt is a must to make the dish savory and elevate the flavors.
  • Sugar- The sugar balances the tanginess of the lemon and gives a mild sweet taste.

How Will The Recipe Look And Taste?

If you didn’t get my million green color references in the article, let me say it again, the chimichurri looks vibrantly green. The sauce might look a bit chunky if you blend it in a mortar and pestle. If you want a smoother consistency, you should use a blender. The sauce tastes a bit tangy and savory. Also, it feels a little grass-like and the mint adds a coolness. The strong flavor of the garlic goes great with grilled meats.
