How To Make Giblet Gravy At Home
Giblet gravy is a rich and delicious gravy. It is made with giblets, drippings, veggies, and seasoning. It is easy to make and is a great way to use the giblets of the bird.
Giblets are found inside the cavity of a chicken or a turkey. They are bundle that includes the heart, liver, gizzard, and neck of the bird. When we roast chicken or turkey, we take out the giblets and do not use them. Giblet gravy is a great way to use giblets and drippings to make rich gravy.
To make giblet gravy, melt butter in a pot and brown the giblets in it. Then, add vegetables, garlic, bay leaf, thyme, and water to it. Cook it for 2 hours. Then, drain and mince the giblets. Take the drippings in a pan and all flour to it. Then, add the stock and the minced giblets. Stir it until it becomes thick and season with salt and pepper.

- Large Pot
- Giblets (from Turkey or Chicken)
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- ½ cup stalks Celery (diced)
- 1 cup Onion (diced)
- ½ cup Carrots (diced)
- 1 tablespoon Garlic (minced)
- 1 Bay Leaf
- 1 teaspoon Dried Thyme
- 5 cups Water
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- ¼ teaspoon Black Pepper
- 2 tablespoons All-Purpose Flour
- Drippings from Roasted Turkey (as required)
- In a pot, melt butter and add the giblets to it. Cook them until they are brown.
- Then, add the onions, celery, and carrots to it. Saute them for about 3-4 minutes until the onions become translucent. After that, add the garlic and saute for another minute.
- Add bay leaf, thyme and water to the pot. Bring it to a boil and then, lower the heat. Cover the pot with a lid and cook on low heat for about 2 hours.
- Then, drain the giblets through a sieve and save half a cup of the stock. Mince the giblets.
- When your chicken or turkey is roasted, transfer its drippings to a pan.
- Add flour to it and cook until it becomes thick. Then, add the stock and the inced giblets to it. Stir it until it becomes thick.
- Season it with salt and pepper. If you want a smoother gravy, you can blend it. Otherwise, if you like chunky gravy, then your gravy is ready!
