Gabubu Bread is a native American bread mostly famous in the West River and in South Dakota. It is a type of fry bread but uses less oil. It is made with the same ingredients you use for your regular bread.

To make gabubu bread, add baking powder, flour, salt, sugar to a bowl. Make a nest in between the mixture and pour milk and oil into it. Mix it and knead it properly. Then, make six balls from the dough. Flatten the balls. Add canola oil to a pan and then fry the bread on low heat.

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tbsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Canola Oil
  • ½ tsp Granulated Sugar
  • 1 ½ cups Milk
  • In a large bowl, add baking powder, flour, salt, sugar. Mix well and make a nest in the middle. Add milk and oil in the middle. Mix them properly.
  • Knead it properly and make six balls out of the dough.
  • In the frying pan, add canola oil. Flatten the dough balls by pressing them from the ends.
  • Fry them on low heat until they turn golden brown.
