Dulce de Leche is similar to caramel sauce. The sauce pairs marvelously with ice-creams, cheesecakes, pies, or whatever you like. In this recipe, I will be sharing two different methods of making the sauce.
The recipe is made from sweetened milk and has its origins in Latin America. The history of the sauce is not known, but some people claim that Napoleon’s cook accidentally discovered the sauce by heating milk and sugar for a long time. Now, let’s have an overview of the recipe.
There are two methods of preparing Dulce de Leche: one ingredient and classic method. One ingredient method involves baking sweet condensed milk for 2 hours and the classic method involves mixing sugar, vanilla bean and milk in a pan over medium flame. Then, add baking soda and cook until the sauce gets caramel color.
To give your Dulce de Leche the on-spot caramel flavor, you can also add a few drops of caramel extract. If you don’t have caramel extract, you can also use any of its substitutes. It will definitely elevate the taste of your sweet dessert.
The methods may look a little confusing but believe me, once you through the detailed recipe below, you will be able to make a perfect sweet sauce. Before that, check out the other sauce recipes as well.
